Setting up the program and selecting participants

Identifying target group of learners

The target group within the company was to be permanent employees in the warehouse. This group of about 74 employees had experience working with me as an Enterprise Based Trainer for the first round of WELL funding.

Outline the purposes and social context of the program

The first round of WELL funding, running for 220 hours, involved individual skills audits and some training in small groups and with individuals to address specific personal needs in literacy, numeracy and general communication. It was decided that the second round, of 160 hours, should be used to assess as many individuals as possible against Certificate I and Certificate II in Transport and Distribution ( Warehousing) units, from the Transport and Distribution training package, and to provide training and support where needed for individuals whose communication skills may hinder their attainment of units.

Outline the learning outcomes

This meant selecting relevant Units of Competence for both the workplace and individuals, from Certificate I and II in the Transport and Distribution (Warehousing) training package and implementing the Assessment Guidelines accompanying the package by developing a customized assessment tool.
