Deliver the program

Implement the planned sequence of activities

Monitor the learners’ responses and adjust activities

Assess student performance against the expected performance outcomes.

Where the learning outcomes, sample course materials and the assessment tasks have already been mapped against the NRS a fairly consistent assessment process is likely. However, if at this point you wish to report using the NRS you can use the Translation Statement (refer to tables) or you can manually translate specific assessment task and performances against the NRS.

An outline of this process follows:

Process

A brief explanation of the diagram follows:

If the teacher feels that the student has ‘over achieved’ the learning outcomes:

  • Look at the assessment task and student response against the relevant learning outcomes and assessment criteria and against the Translation statement, which gives the benchmarks for the relevant learning outcomes.
  • Look at the NRS Reporting information and additional support material at a higher level than that in the Translation Statement.

If the student’s response better fits this description of achievement, report the higher level NRS indicator

OR

If the student’s achievement falls short of the learning outcomes:

  • Look at the NRS Reporting Information and Additional Support information at a lower level than that in the Translation Statement, and

If the student’s response better fits this description of the achievement report the lower NRS level indicator
